Description: ArtStory Fine Art Catherine Klein (1861-1929) Catherine Klein (1861-1929) studied at the Berlin School of Applied Arts and then launched a career as an illustrator - like many women at the time - thanks to the spread of chromolithography, for specialist magazines like the Rosen-Zeitung or the Journal des roses. She exhibited successfully in 1890 in several cities in Germany, such as Dresden, Munich and Berlin and counted Kaiser Wilhelm among her clients. Using watercolor mixed with gouache, she composed still lifes - more than two thousand - of bouquets of flowers, roses or birds, as well as gardens. Very rare Sketchbook from the end of the 19th century including 14 studies painted in watercolor, some signed KLEIN and one dated 1897 depicting studies of flowers, birds and landscape.
