Description: Up for sale is a great early 19th Century Antique Primitive Saxon Spinning Wheel with a Distaff Birdcage arm.Everything appears to be working.Amazing dark patina on all of the hand turned Maple legs and upright dowels.I believe very early 19th century. probably New England. The arm on the Birdcage Distaff was broken and reglued at the upright joint. It should hold for display. I would suggest drilling a center hole in the arm and glue a wooden or metal dowel in the middle of the arm especially if you are going to use it. An easy invisible and strong repair will work greatSome of the photos are with the birdcage and some are without. (it slides right into the hole nicely)Museum Quality design and patina.
