Carved signature KANSHUAN followed by kakihan (carved monogram of the artist) on the lower part of the back. Lengthy poem in cursive script on the upper part of the back refers to gigaku (old Japanese Imperial court music). Great subtle piece for scholar’s desk or a practicing Buddhist.
