1997 BMW 840ci

Description: Second owner. Garage kept year round, driven only in spring/summer/fall. I bought the car in 2002 when it had 37K miles and I've owned it for more than 22 years. It currently has 163K miles (it was a daily driver some years ago) but don't let this dissuade you - read on.Mechanically:It runs/operates like new with only the following exceptions: - sunroof does not open - this may simply be a fuse but I've not investigated - the lever to tilt the passenger seat forward is not working - not a big ticket fix.Cosmetically: Exterior: Looks 100% like new and I often get asked (by people unfamiliar with this car) if it *is* new. Complete front end refinishing done in 2015 by the owner of a boutique body shop with more than 30 years experience, primarily with BMWs. Absolutely no rust, accidents, or leaks of any kind. Since it was refinished it has sustained only one small chip in the front (see photos) - this is literally the only blemish on the entire vehicle. Has only been gently hand-washed since refinishing. The genuine BMW M-Parallel wheels were purchased new in 2016 and all are flawless. The original "Dumbo" side view mirrors were replaced with genuine BMW M-style (Csi) mirrors in 2015. Interior: I've not maintained the interior with the same fervor as the exterior and mechanics, but it has not been abused in any sense of the word. Some things I've been wanting to do but have decided to let the next owner tackle: - headliner needs to be replaced (and in truth you should fully expect *any* original 8 to need a new headliner unless it has recently been replaced as these cars are, at a minimum, 28+ years old at this point). I'd guess this will be about $1K to have it done proper, - cover for sunroof controls cracked a few years ago and I could not locate one in beige so I got one in gray, with the intention of having it done in beige when the headliner is replaced. - radio buttons have begun to show wear - I've wanted to upgrade the original radio for some time but simply haven't gotten around to it. This is a very conspicuous interior component and it makes sense that the new owner should have the opportunity to select according to features/taste.While you'll certainly find an original 8 with lower mileage you'll be hard-pressed to find one better cared for and more mechanically sound. The two-plus inch thick stack of maintenance records is most, but not all, of the work done on this vehicle in the past 20+ years (some of the records from early 2000's was lost in a move although these are likely available from BMW).Included in the sale are the $500 Covercraft custom made car cover (link below), the Schwaben BMW Jack Pad Adapter, and brand new BMW floating/self-leveling center caps (I never installed these because, after some reflection, they seemed a bit over the top).
