Description: These are two tourist maps from 1989, before Shanghai and Beijing had their burst of expansion. The old cities were still there and retained the look and feel of the older days. The first is a map of downtown Shanghai naming the buildings on the major streets, the markets, and what could be found in the markets. The second is a map of downtown Beijing identifying all the major buildings and sites of the various sections of the city. A section titled “A General Survey” offers much interesting information. The Shanghai map is in very good condition. The Beijing map has considerable separations along the fold lines but the text is completely readable and the map is easily discerned.
