You are buying a factory sealed 1989 Classic Orange Baseball Card Set. This 50 card set--see the checklist on the back photo--features the rarest rookie card of Ken Griffey, Jr. (And the rarest rookie card of Gary Sheffield.) (The set was numbered 101 to 150 because there were 100 Classic cards before that so this was a continuation of the 1989 Classic series that began with the Blue board game 100-card set earlier in the year. The borders of the 1987 original Classic Green board game 100-card set were, well, green! (I probably sold more than 75 Green Classic sets at card shows in 1987 and 1988. (Try finding factory sealed 1987 Green sets now! I do have one on eBay currently!) The set is shrink wrapped inside the box. In addition to the rarest rookie cards of Griffey and Sheffield, the Orange set includes stars like Bo Jackson, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire (his RC is in the 1987 Classic Yellow set), Wade Boggs, Roberto Alomar, Fred McGriff and a guy named Barry Bonds. By the way, only 250,000 Orange sets were made. (At one time back in 1990, I once owned more than 2,000 sets. For real. I am leaving each of my four children a minimum of six 24-set cases--144 sets each.) Companies like Topps, Fleer and Donruss and Upper Deck probably made 10 to 25 times that during 1989. The price of this hard to find set--it is now 35 years old--is just $28.88! Not a penny more, not a penny less.
