Description: 1978 Greco EG 500 Les Paul Standard Electric Guitar - Sunburst Greco guitars are among some of the highest quality Japanese Les Pauls you can get your hands on. This guitar was built in 1978 at the Famed FujiGen Factory. Eventually Gibson would commission the same factory to produce their line of Orville guitars; another high quality guitar brand exclusively sold in Japan. The Greco EG 500 is pretty much a vintage Gibson minus the heavy vintage price tag. This guitar delivers a classic look, feel, and sound. The guitar is upgraded with USA Kiesel (Carvin) with an innovative 11 polepiece per coil design. This means there is no dropoff in output when bending strings. Plus, the Alnico V magnets give a rich, powerful sound with warmth not available from less expensive ceramic magnets. This EG 500 is in good condition. There is some minor cracking in finish on the bass side contour (pictured) due to body separation, which has been glued. The work is smooth and stable and doesn't detract from playability or tone in any way. Also some light scratches and small indentations can be seen throughout. The guitar has been professionally set up in-house which includes a fresh set of strings, polish and clean, oiling the neck, spraying out the pots, and setting the string height at a low-to-medium action.
