Description: 1977 "The Soviets" World Team Tennis Program - USSR National Team - WTT #FWIL From the FunWhileItLasted.net collection (#FWIL) of defunct sports team memorabilia...Super rare issue of SUPER-TIEBREAKER souvenir program for the 1977 "THE SOVIETS" (1977) franchise of the original WORLD TEAM TENNIS league (1974-1978).During the 1970's era of detente (easing of tensions) between the United States and the USSR, the Soviet National Tennis Team was allowed to join World Team Tennis as a guest franchise for the 1977 season.  For promotional purposes, the team was known simply as "The Soviets".  The Soviets had no geographic home base for their matches and instead played their home games in neutral site arenas all across the United States during the spring and summer of 1977.  This edition of Super-Tiebreaker is from one of those neutral site Soviets matches.  But no specific game date or opponents were ever listed in the Soviet editions of Super-Tiebreaker so it's impossible to known which match this was used for.Cover: SANDY MAYER of the NEW YORK SETS32 pages.
