Description: 1975 Press Photo John C. Linn stands at door of tornado shelter he built This is an original press photo. John C. Linn stands at door of tornado shelter he built into side of hill near Summit, Mississippi. The inside door, made of brass, was salvaged from a wrecked Southern Pacific Pullman car, and the windows are two solid brass portholes that weight about 50 pounds apiece and came from a World War II LST. And if, as happened only last January, a tornado tears through the Summit area of Pike Country, Mississippi, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Linn expect to be secure behind that door and watching the storm through the portholes. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 07-20-1975.
