Launching the Houston Symphony's season of free 8:30 pm summer concerts in Miller Theater tonight will be guest conductor John Covelli (left) of the Florentine Opera Company in Milwaukee and associate conductor of that city's symphony. Covelli will appear as both conductor and soloist in the Shostakovitch Piano Concerto No. 2. He will also conduct the park concerts Tuesday and Friday, with a Monday pops performance directed by Albert Coleman of the Atlanta Pops.
