On the reverse side there are inset plans of Scranton-Wilkes Barre, Erie, Allentown-Bethlehem, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Reading, Gettysburg, and the Poconos. This map was issued by the Humble Oil & Refining Company to promote its Esso brand. It is dated 1972 in the legend and is copyrighted © MCMLXXI (1971). The code number on the back cover is W1171. The letter W in the code indicates the map was printed by Western Publishing & Printing in Poughkeepsie, New York. The numbers 1171 are the date: November 1971. Esso often issued different editions of its road maps in given years, with varying printer codes.
