1966 Oldsmobile Toronado

Description: What I have up for sale is an extremely clean, mostly restored 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado Deluxe. This was GMs first front wheel drive car based on a concept from David North in 1962 and was finally realized for the 1966 model year. Combining a massive 425 CI V8 engine with a 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic 425 gave the 1966 Toronado a brisk 385 HP with 475 FT/LBS of torque. The Toronado could easily do 0-60 in 6.5-7 seconds which was very fast for its era. Built on the E-Body chassis shared by the Buick Riviera and the soon to be revised Cadillac Eldorado in 1967, the Toronado was a perfect combination of luxury and power. The lack of a transmission hump gave the Toronado more leg room than other larger luxury cars of its day. This along with a unique Strato-Bench seat gave the driver and its passengers all the comfort and thrills one could ask for. The Toronado Deluxe here, affectionately known as Sienna, has been owned by me for the past two years. She has a freshened up numbers matching 425 V8 with a fully rebuilt 425 TH425 transmission. The transmission was rebuilt using the correct switch-pitch parts only several years ago and performs like new. She can easily do 110 without breaking a sweat. She’s nice and smooth on the highway which makes for comfortable long trips to Sedona, Payson, and other relaxing AZ destinations. Exhaust is newer within the last 10 years and all seals, etc, have been replaced. There is no cabin drone, but she has a healthy rumble in the back that only a high displacement engine can provide (videos provided below). All suspension components, etc have been replaced. Tires are newer within the last 5 years. Brakes have been replaced, and she’ll stop on a dime.The body is in excellent, near new shape (original/refurbished). The car was fully repainted roughly 4 years ago and stripped down to bare metal. She was repainted in her factory correct Autumn Bronze using a two-stage paint, which almost looks as if it could be the old style acrylic lacquer. With even a simple hand wash she shines like a mirror. The chrome was also redone and shines like new. All trim pieces and scripts appear as new. Body panels align as they did when she left the factory. Interior is 100% OEM correct with the matching autumn bronze color, same as the exterior. It too looks as new and there are no known defects in the cloth, trim, etc. All gages work on the dash and the dash clock keeps perfect time. Vacuum actuated headlights have been fully restored and operate wonderfully. Options include AM radio (AM/FM deck included), A/C (requires new compressor clutch), Strato-Bench, heater/defroster, etc. Windows/seats/antenna are manual. I have extra parts which come with the car, a binder of original advertisements, and a folder full of receipts going back to the early 70s. The only reason I’m parting ways with this beautiful lady is a fading interest in 60s cars. I’ve gravitated more towards 40s/50s vehicles as of late, so I’d like to see her go to a good home. Funds for the purchase of this vehicle are due within 14 days from the date of sale. Payment must be in form of a cashier’s check or other secure funds from a bank. Buyer is responsible for transportation however I do have a company I can recommend which is cost effective and expeditious.
