Description: The rare 1965 card from the "carbking" collection has visible signs of wear to include light staining on the back of the card and a wrinkle at the bottom left corner. Overall, this is a very nice card. It measures roughly 5.25" x 4". Please review the pictures to assist with the condition and content of the card. The Marhoefer Meatpacking Company was founded in 1901 as the Kuhner Packing Company. The Marhoefer family would take over in 1945. Based in Muncie, Indiana, the company would aggressively advertise their sausages and hot dogs in conjunction with the local Indianapolis 500. These cards were produced as part of the packaging for their products. The staining seen on the back of this card is not unusual. This unnumbered card features Chuck Rodee and is one of 18 cards that make up the 1965 Marhoefer Drivers set. Rodee made two starts in the Indianapolis 500, the 1962 and 1965 seasons. Rodee is inducted in the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. During a qualifying attempt for the 1966 Indy 500, Rodee lost his life when his car backed into the wall, exiting Turn 1.
