Description: This is a 1964.5 (1965) Mustang and it has 78,200 miles. 289 V8 with 4 barrel carb, dual exhaust(added in 1988), 4speed Auto transmission Has factory A/C. Has internal and external rusting and will need Complete restore. Last driven in 2001 and drove very strong with no mechanical issues. It has been sitting too long and will require engine restore. Will require cable tow to extract from rear driveway area. This Mustang has been the family since 1978 when it was initially painted Maroon and tuned up and became my Dads weekend car. Between 1980 and 1985 it became a secondary daily driver for my mom to mostly commute in the neighborhood to grocery stores, military base, and taking kids to school until my Dad bought a 3rd car at which it was repainted and parked in garage for 5 years. In 1990 the interior and seats was restored and it became my High School Hotrod. The car was well kept and driven daily until 1995 when I got a modern car and it was parked and driven periodically to keep the battery charged. The Car was last inspected in 2000 and I moved away in 2002 leaving it to sit in the rear driveway where it became a garden table and storage locker for my mom. We had plans to do a complete restoration, but time and life got in the way. The D-code was meant to be a kind of intermediate engine. For people who wanted a V8 with a four-barrel carburetor but who didn’t want to splurge for the high-performance K-code, the D-code was a kind of compromise. Though it had the same displacement as the K-code engine, and it also was equipped with a four-barrel carburetor, the D-code engine produced less horsepower. One major benefit to the D-code engine over its higher-performance relative is that the D-code’s lower compression ratio meant that it uses regular fuel rather than premium. This was not true of many of the other intermediate V8s produced during the first generation of Mustang.
