Description: 1962 Schwinn Middleweight Typhoon. All original patina, refurbished. See pictures for scratches and scrapes. Overall the bike is in excellent condition for a 62 year old kid’s bike. Great rider. 1962 was the only year Schwinn made the Typhoon with a straight top bar. They originally did this to establish a price difference between the Typhoon and some of the other models that they were offering. Schwinn thought the straight bar would somehow make the Typhoon appear "cheaper" than the cantilever top bar models, but after a year, they realized they were spending more trying to make the bike seem of lesser value. So after one year the Typhoon frame was made the same as the other models, with a cantilever style. Top decal can be easily replaced but I wanted to keep this all original other than tubes and tires. Ask me about a 2 speed kickback upgrade.
