Description: The rare 1962 card is in excellent condition with light wear and minimal staining on the back of the card. This is a very nice card. The card measures roughly 5.25" x 4". Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the card. The Marhoefer Meatpacking Company was founded in 1901 as the Kuhner Packing Company. The Marhoefer family would take over in 1945. Based in Muncie, Indiana, the company would aggressively advertise their sausages and hot dogs in conjunction with the local Indianapolis 500. These cards were produced as part of the packaging for their products. The staining seen on the back of the card is not unusual. This unnumbered card features Len Sutton and is one of 16 cards that make up the 1962 Marhoefer set. Sutton made seven starts in the Indianapolis 500 with a best finish of second in the 1962 race. He made a total of 76 Indy Car starts with 43 top 10 finishes and three victories. He was a versatile driver running Roadsters, Sprints, and Midgets. He also ran Stock Cars and finished 31st in the 1962 Daytona 500. Please review the other racing items I have listed at the eBay store, The Checkered Past. I will combine shipping and provide a refund on shipping charges for anything over cost. Thanks!
