Description: The rare 1962 card is in excellent condition with light wear, light creasing, and minimal staining on the back of the card. This is a nice card. The card measures roughly 5.25" x 4". Numerous pictures were taken to assist with the condition and content of the card. The Marhoefer Meatpacking Company was founded in 1901 as the Kuhner Packing Company. The Marhoefer family would take over in 1945. Based in Muncie, Indiana, the company would aggressively advertise their sausages and hot dogs in conjunction with the local Indianapolis 500. These cards were produced as part of the packaging for their products. The staining seen on the back of the card is not unusual. This unnumbered card features Don Branson and is one of 16 cards that make up the 1962 Marhoefer set. Branson made eight starts in the Indianapolis 500 with a best finish of fourth in the 1960 race. He made a total of 125 Indy Car starts with six victories. Branson was an ace on dirt and won the Sprint Car Championship in 1959 and 1964. He is in the Sprint Car Hall of Fame and the Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Unfortunately, he died in 1966 while running at Ascot.
