Description: Think warm peach pie or peach cobbler...Many families continue to enjoy fruit from Sunny Slope Brand Peaches. Their wooden crate from the 1960s will bring back memories. This 1960s Sunny Slope Farms peaches crate measures 20" long by 14" wide by 11" tall. The crate sports a very dramatic label, with its black background and center image (photo #2) of an antique race car and cute driver. The racer is flanked by peaches on either side with the motto “The Leader." Used to ship 48 pounds of peaches (photo #4), the crate is in excellent condition with some of the writing beginning to fade. This crate is unique since the end (photo #4) shows a lack of color, where the printer neglected to run the artwork through the press. Sunny Slope Farms of SC had its roots in NJ. Founder Vincent Caggiano began work on a NJ farm at age 16. After diligently saving his money, Vincent started growing peaches on his own farm in 1914. The business grew and in 1943, three of his sons started a second farm in Gaffney, SC, which grew to 2,500 acres. The family operated the SC farm until selling it in 2007. The NJ property remains strong and has grown to over 1,000 acres. Today Sunny Slope is run by Vincent’s son, Al, and his kids. The family-owned company is operated in the original tradition. The crate will enhance your family room or dining area. Record albums or accessories would look great stored in the box. Rustic/farmhouse decor is currently a trendy look. Enjoy peaches this year.
