Will this prove to be the big kahuna of errors for the 1950s? Mickey mantle cards might just be the most scrutinized and prized cards in the hobby. Which is why it’s hard to believe that a base card of the commerce comet could have such a drastic error that no one has noticed in the hobby but we as error collectors have noticed the missing 53 on the back of 1955 harry Elliott for decades??? Well believe it or not here is a new find and proving to be unbelievably rare even for error standards! I often like to scan EBAY and tally and total cards, in 18 months of searching for this new found error on the 1958 Mickey mantle I have seen 3 on eBay and over 150 1969 white last names come up so that should tell you how “impossible” to obtain it is! My favorite part about this error is it’s really missing alot of text I mean the longer you look at it the more text you notice missing! There are similar card 1955 Harry Elliott missing 53 on back(as mentioned above) 1956 Eddie Robinson and Willard Schmidt have missing text on back as well but not even close to as much as this new Mickey mantle find and those 3 also seem to be more available as well!
