Description: Lovely vintage Omega Seamaster model 2857 in a 'jumbo' 36 mm case. The dial would have originally been two-tone, but over time it has tropicalised in such a unique way that turning it in the light reveals stripes on the dial. Mixture of applied, gilt Arabic and dagger markers and gilt, dauphine hour, minute and central seconds hands. Age, climate and conditions all contribute to a dial patina and this "tropical" effect is quite rare, even more so when it is even and balanced.36mm gold-capped case, steel caseback, attractive curved lugs. Beautiful omega signed crown. Gold capping lasts much longer compared to gold plate. Inside is Omega's automatic caliber 501, fully serviced in 2023 and running strongly.
