Description: This 1953 Joe Nuxhall Cincinnati Reds Topps MLB Card #105 is the exact item you will receive and has been certified Authentic by REM Fine Collectibles. Joseph Henry Nuxhall (July 30, 1928 - November 15, 2007) became the youngest pitcher since 1887 to pitch in a Major League Baseball game when he appeared in 1944 at the age of 15 years, 10 months and 11 days and was lit up with two hits, five walks and five runs in 2/3 of an inning. That was Nuxhall’s only game in 1944 with the Reds and he was sent to the minors for the better part of seven years. He rejoined Cincinnati in 1952 and remained with the club until 1960. He played 16 seasons in Major League Baseball with the Reds (1 44, 1952-1960, 1962-1966), the Kansas City Athletics (1961) and the Los Angeles Angels (1962). Joe won ten or more games in five consecutive seasons (1954-1958) and Nuxhall led the National league in shutouts with five in 257.0 innings in 1955. He earned back-to-back trips to the MLB All-Star Games in 1955 and 1956. Over his 16-year career, Joe Nuxhall compiled a 135-117 record with a 3.90 ERA, 83 complete games, 1,372 strikeouts and 20 shutouts. Following his playing days, Nuxhall made a successful transition into the broadcast booth, despite no previous experience, and spent 26 years calling Cincinnati Reds games.
