Description: Vintage post-WW2 Kapok life vest. This is an early recreational life jacket similar to the kapok life vests used by servicemen in WW2. Perfect for re-enactments or an antique display. THIS IS NOT A COAST GUARD APPROVED PFD. All the stitching appears intact and there’s minimal fading from sun/sweat. The right shoulder area has been ripped up by something (see picture)—you can tell your buddies it was a bear. Or Japanese bullets. Or a tree that knocked you out of your canoe. I don’t actually know what caused it. I don’t know much about antique life vests so I’d be happy to provide more info/pics upon request.
