Description: This listing is for a 1950s Aztec Inspired Embroidered Turquoise Mexican Tourist Jacket Size S/M. This is an iconic Mexican jacket that was made for the tourists visiting Mexico in the 1940s to the 1960s. It is a beautiful, bright turquoise colored wool felt with intricate embroidered patches of Aztec symbols and Gods on the front, back, sleeves, and pockets that look almost Native American. The label, "Modelos Tipica” is known for its depictions of Aztec scenes on its jackets. It has green and orange colored contrasting cross stitching around the neckline, front, bottom, and cuffs. It also has reinforcement around the armholes to keep the puffed sleeves standing up. This jacket is in beautiful condition with no holes or missing threads, and the embroidery is incredible. It has one tiny dark area on the back of the jacket (1/8”) that I have shown in the last photo. You really have to go searching for it. However, I like my buyers to know if anything, no matter how small, makes the garment less than absolutely perfect. Any dark areas are shadows from photographing. These jackets, meant to be worn open, always look great with jeans, skirts, and especially, with the vintage Mexican circle skirts. I have a collection of over 140 of these jackets that I have amassed over the last 35 years. I have really enjoyed wearing these jackets over the years, and at this point in my life, I have decided to sell off my whole collection. I selected only jackets that were in impeccable condition. My jackets have been stored in a cedar lined, cool storage space to prevent any damage from sunlight or insects. I have collected every color and design imaginable. You can be assured that my jackets are in beautiful condition. Please check back as I will post more over the next several months. It is guaranteed that you are going to receive admiring compliments whenever you wear this jacket. They are very bright and colorful jackets that make people smile when they see you wearing them. Vintage inlaid Mexican necklace not included. To learn more about my jackets, please see the Youtube podcast about me and my jackets by Googling "Show and Tell Mexican Tourist jackets".
