Description: 1948 Leaf #91 RALPH KINER (HOF) Rookie! - Pittsburgh Pirates Offered up for sale is one of the best underrated rookie cards of baseball legend, Ralph Kiner! Kiner, of course, lead the lead in homers for like 7 straight years while playing for woeful Pirates teams of that era. In addition to being a slugging HOFer, Ralph really came into his own in the broadcast booth for the NY Mets. Growing up a Mets fan in the 1970's was not easy, and I can honestly say that on many game nights listening to KIner's colorful baseball stories were the highlights of those games. Whether it was his recounts of dating Hollywood starlets from the 1940's, asking the Pirates' stingy owner for a raise after leading the league in homers and being rejected, or just teaching the viewers how to play baseball the right way...Ralph Kiner was the best. My love for the sport wouldn't be what it is if not for Ralph Kiner. This '48 Leaf issue is notorious for having various issues. The cards are practically printed on potato paper. It's miraculous that any are even still around. This Kiner rookie card has excellent registration, bold color, and has excellent centering. The back is relatively clean with no gum stains. There is some minor honest corner wear. Overall, this is a wonderful card and presents extremely well. A highlight to any Kiner, HOF, Pirates or Mets collection. We usually ship same business day and combine shipping. Happy card hunting!
