(front) Hiroshi Oshita 大下 弘is in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame Ohshita/Oshita was a Professional player from 1945-1959 early Home Run King Taiwan born Ohshita began his Pro career after World War II. Known for his trademark blue bat, he hit a record 20 home runs in a season and was home run king and leading hitter three times for the Toei Flyers. Oshita was also a heavy hitter with the Nishitetsu Lions of the Pacific League during the 1950s. (back) Fumio Fujimura 藤村 富美男is in the Japanese Baseball Hall of Fame Fumio was a two-way player from 1936-1958 34-11 record pitching, and hit 224 HRs A superstitious player, Fujimura never hurt insects or shaved before games, Known as hot-tempered, as he was once suspended for physically abusing an umpire. In 1950, Fujimura set the single-season record with 191 base hits. This record remained unbroken for 44 years, until Ichiro Suzuki surpassed it in 1994.
