Description: Vintage 1941 fold-out road map of Missouri, published by Sinclair more than 80 years ago. This map opens to 20" x 27" and has great detail on old road alignments, including U.S. Routes 40, 50, and 66, with cartography by Rand McNally. The map was distributed by Sinclair in 1941 and is overprinted with two bright red pennants to show the location of two Sinclair Pennant Hotels. One is in Rolla, on Routes 66 and 63, and one is in Columbia, on Route 40. The Sinclair Refining Company had acquired the two Pennant hotel properties in the mid-1930s, and this map offers a fascinating historical link to their dual marketing approach. On the reverse side of the map there are inset plans of Kansas City and St. Louis. This is an original, authentic 1941 Sinclair road map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It is dated by the code number in the lower margin: W.3606. Population data is from the 1940 census. Condition: It is in very good, lightly used condition, with no rips, tears, or writing. There's a neat rubber-stamp imprint on the back cover from a Sinclair gas station in Kansas City. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. Buy with confidence!
