It is dated April 6, 1940, during a very rough period for Greece. A few days later, on October 28, 1940 Fascist Italy declared war and invaded Greece. The Greeks responded by kicking the Italians all the way back into Albania. Winston Churchill: "Hence we will not say that Greeks fight like heroes, but we will say that heroes fight like Greeks". However, in April of 1941 Hitler marched into Greece and from then until November of 1944, Greece was conquered and occupied.
