Signed by the author to the front endpaper dated 1936. Performed at the Canterbury Festival of 1936, and written for production by Friends of Canterbury Cathedral, this play is 'a presentation, in verse of the public career of Cranmer, mingling two themes - the intentions of Cranmer's mind towards the world, and the dealings of the world with Cranmer's self'. A leader of the English Reformation, and Archbishop of Canterbury under three monarchs, Cranmer helped build the case for the annulment of Henry's marriage to Catherine of Aragon. Written by Charles Williams, an English poet, novelist, playwright, theologian and literary critic. Includes a Derwent Lodge Home-School Association Christmas Draw ticket.
