Description: 1934 1st Ed. "The Mighty Barnum" Photoplay -- Signed Inscription by Co-Author Bess MeredythCopyright 1934 by 20th Century Pictures, Hollywood, California. Photoplays were a creative marketing strategy to attract people to the theatres to view the movie. They combined the screenplay for the movie with photos and scene shots from the movie into a book. This book / screenplay / photoplay ("The Mighty Barnum") is an early example. This book contains a personalized inscription from Bess Meredyth (a silent movie actress in the first decades of the 20th century and then co-author of the screenplay "The Mighty Barnum") to my Aunt, Opal Johnson, who provided caregiving services to her at some point in her life. (1960's??): The inscription reads "To--'Nurse Johnnie" - Opal-- who keeps my seams together--Otherwise I'd fall apart-- Grate fully- with love, Bessie" This book is in very good condition --Please see the photos to assess its condition for yourself; I am not a book collector or grader of books. I can mention only what I observe: The cover is intact, fully connected to the book spine; there are no markings other than the inscription; the corners and edges of the cloth cover have seen some wear; the pages have some toning; there is no dust jacket. Please feel free to ask me any questions. This item is not returnable.Packaging and handling are included in shipping. Thanks!
