It is well known for manufacturing the combat knife ( USMC Ka-Bar knife ) first adopted by the United States Marine Corps in November 1942 as the 1219C2 combat knife (later designated the USMC Mark 2 combat knife or Knife, Fighting Utility), and subsequently adopted by the United States Navy as the U.S. Navy utility knife, Mark 2. In 1952 Union Cutlery renamed itself KA-BAR Cutlery Inc. in order to capitalize on widespread public recognition of the name and trademark. In 1996, Cutco Corporation, manufacturer of Cutco Cutlery, acquired the company. This item has KA-BAR trademark logo with the registration number 0,178,082 at the U.S. patent office applied by Union Cutlery Company issued on Jan 8th 1924. This knife has the blade forged from the fine carbon steel.
