Most are new old stock with no visible signs of wear and were lovingly preserved. Most items were originally purchased at local shops in Billings, Montana (Mildred-Hazel Shop, closed in 1947; D.J. Cole Co., closed 1955; Hart Albin, closed 1990) and exude a high-fashion style. Born in the late 1800s, the sole owner of this collection traveled the States in the 1950s persuading Depression-era rural Americans to bring electricity into their homes. She taught women how to cook on an electric range and educated rural families on how to bring the benefit of electricity into their kitchens and barns through a New Deal funded project.
