These standardized patterns still had a limited run, as all handmade items do. Over time, mistreatment and mishap have made these mats an increasingly rare commodity. The colors on both sides are bright and vibrant, and the blend of cotton and silk is clearly recognizable to the touch. This particular pattern is one of the Grenfell designs where the back holds more detail and brightness than the front, while the colors on the front seem richer and blend really well. The front of this mat looks like it could be from an old picture book. It has a very homey, comforting feel.
