The very scarce first edition of this work of children's poetry by Sasha Chorny.Sasha Chorny, born Alexander Mikhailovich Glikberg on October 2, 1880, in Odessa, Ukraine, was a prominent Russian writer and poet. He adopted the pen name "Sasha Chorny" to emphasize his connection to the working-class roots of his Jewish heritage.Chorny's career was cut short by the political upheaval in Russia. With the onset of the First World War and the subsequent establishment of the Soviet regime, Chorny faced increasing censorship and exiled himself to Germany. This was the first book by Chorny to have been published abroad after he fled from Russia.
