Description: Edwardian elegant, ornately silver plated, pedestal claret jug. The Silver plated top has a very decorative bunch of grapes & leaf opener on lid, which is a lovely feature. A lovely collectors piece. The Ornate long collared and spouted and plated handle, is nicely worked with bunches of grapes on vines, as is the pedestal base. Measurements: 32.5 cms high Cut Crystal glass bowl 17cms in diameter at widest point Weight 1.233kg Makers mark on bottom in gothic old English font, listed as George Lee & Co with an S and EP and are worn but can be clearly seen with a loupe, please see photographs The crystal glass has been nicely cut and there are no chips, or nibbles so this has been cherished piece throughout its time! GEORGE LEE & CO Sheffield (possibly) Active (1888-1967) at 87 Eldon Street, and Mary Street (1947),Sheffield . Listed exhibitor at British Industries Fair 1929 and 1947. Mark matches Sheffield silver makers mark, please see photographs. The “S”could stand for Sheffield, but is possible the gothic “S” date stamp for 1910.
