All the names are entered on the mailing list & will receive the paper as soon as it comes from the press, which will I hope be this week. It is still much delayed each month -- owing to the strike of the printers. You cannot know how much all the state officers rejoice at the success of the Valley Falls Club. It is splendid! Miss Hare was in Syracuse recently spoke most enthusiastically of her visit to your club. Your president is a fine leader & has fine officers to help her. Please give her my love keep some for yourself with all good wishes. Very sincerely, Harriet May Mills." Letter is written on an 11" x 8 1/2" sheet of New York State Woman Suffrage Association stationery. The letterhead lists Mills as "Vice-President at Large". The accompanying transmittal envelope is imprinted: "Chairman Organization Committee Harriet May Mills". Harriet May Mills (1857-1935), born in Syracuse, NY, led an activist's life... helping to build one of the largest suffrage organizations in the country, founding a women's Democratic Club, running for NY Secretary of State on Al Smith's gubernatorial reelection ticket, devoting her time in support of the mentally ill as the first female State Hospital Commissioner.
