Description: 18TH CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT TEA POT TWISTED HANDLE + ARMORIAL Approx.; 12cm high x 15cm widest – 920g Stunning antique soft paste porcelain teapot. Armorial on the side bears what appear to be the letters, possibly the monogram of the previous owner. Fashioned in China for export to Europe. In the 18th century, only the most distinguished and affluent members of European high societies could afford the privilege of owning such wares. Whereas I understand that these Export Tea Pots are out there, very few have a personalised armorial like this one, this is also in better condition than most – It is in exceptional good condition considering it age – the only slight faults I can find are a very light hairline – if you look at the photos you can see this, it is at the top rim – look at the photos with the handle on the left and spout to the right, look at the top rim next to the top of the handle, you will see a hairline approximately 6cm long, if you look at the joints of the handle to the maim body you will see what look like cracks, I believe that these, which are very small, have been there since the tea pot was original constructed and would have occurred during drying or firing, however I wanted to point them out so you would be aware, I have included photos of this area. The only other thing I can fine is a very small chip on the inside / underside of the outer rim of the lid, I have also included a photo of this. – other than these points and some age and use related mark and slight rubbing to the decoration it is in very good order – please have a good look at all of the photos.
