Original publisher half leather binding with marbled boards shows wear as pictured, including rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, flaking and chipping to the leather (though it isn’t particularly brittle and only leaves minor residue when placed on a white surface), wear to the joints, general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and rubbing and soiling to the page edges. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! Tight and square! Internally, this volume is in good shape overall. There is some cracking to both the front and rear hinges, however, both boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to the binding. This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the title page and copyright page. Otherwise this volume is clean. The text block of this volume is clean throughout There is typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as some minor foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and some general light edge wear in the margins, but this volume is otherwise quite clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings.
