Description: This sepia-colored stereo view pictures a man doing the wash under the baleful eye of his dominating wife. Numbered 12262, it is labelled “Woman’s Rights” and was copyrighted in 1897 by B. W. Kilburn of Littleton, New Hampshire, who was the photographer and publisher. The name of James Davis of New York and St. Louis is also printed on the front. Anti-Woman Suffrage proponents often liked to criticize the suffrage, suffragist, suffragette movement by implying that giving Votes for Women would result in a topsy-turvy world in which men and women would switch roles. Except for some very light smudging in the upper left corner, this card is in very good condition. It comes from the holdings of a long-time collector of woman suffrage memorabilia.
