Description: The Beauties of Nature and the Wonders of the World We Live In, Sir John Lubbock, 1892, Macmillan, NY and London. This appears to be an American first edition, published in US and London during its first year of publication 1892. Lubbock was a protégé, neighbor, and close correspondent of Darwin, and an MP, pretty famous, established “Bank holidays.” This book covers flora and fauna, geology, geography and astronomy. Excellent plates and drawings, unaccredited. 429 Pages plus advertising for other books in the back. 5 1/4" x 7 1/2". No DJ. theblue cloth covered boards are gorgeous with gilt lettering and designs, spine lettering is bright. Hardly any shelf wear and no marks. The only fault is light foxing on first pages and top of title page. Buyer pays cost of Media Mail. International buyers welcome. I pack carefully and use recycled materials when possible. I would be happy to answer any questions or send more photos. Returns are allowed if my description wasn't accurate. Seller pays return shipping.
