Description: Original early autograph of Ellen Terry on photograph that was cut from a book or periodical circa 1890s. The photo of the actress measures 5-3/4" x 4" and was signed on the reverse over the photo of another actress of the time. The nice large signature measures nearly 3-1/2" across. Ellen Terry was an English actress who became one of the most popular stage performers in both Great Britain and North America. For 24 years (1878–1902) she worked as the leading lady of Sir Henry Irving in one of the most famous partnerships in the theatre. This autograph along with other photographs I am listing came from the estate of actors William J. Sully & Nellie Germon who worked in Vaudeville, Burlesque and Minstrel theatre late 19th century to early 20th century era. He was from Boston and had Broadway New York acting credits. Nellie Germon who was one of the famous Germon family of actors. Her sister was Effie Germon who has a unique history involving John Wilkes Booth. I acquired a large lot of items and ephemera that had descended from William Sully including hand written lyrics and jokes by both Sully and Nellie Germon. Be sure to check my other items for more from this collection.
