Description: Here is something you won't find for sale ANYWHERE else! Exclusively from Periscope Film LLC, a full and complete reprint of the Original 1887 Prospectus and Patent Declaration for San Francisco's Cable Railways, all 55 pages of it!This is NOT I repeat NOT a CD or a .pdf file! What you are getting is a wonderful 8.5x11 book made with high quality paper, and beautiful glossy covers!! Why buy a CD of this and then have to print out all the pages?? It'll cost much more and the result will be inferior! Okay, more about this book:1873, the first cable railway in the United States began operation in San Francisco. In subsequent years, the Clay Street Railroad was joined by many other operators throughout the U.S.A., including systems in New York and Los Angeles. The rise of the electric trolley made most cable car systems obselete. Today, the only manual cable car system in operation is the historic San Francisco Municipal Railway. Originally published in 1887, this prospectus was prepared by patent holders in hopes of attracting additional operators and investors. The document describes the cable car system and its operation in text, diagrams and photographs, and presents a detailed list of patents. This easy-to-read reprint is presented in format, sightly larger than the original. However, care has been taken to preserve the integrity of the text. 55 pages, 8.5" x 11", black and white with full color covers.
