This account, which was reprinted from the proceedings of the Massachusetts Historical Society Meeting from February 1878, is Jolley’s own account of his experiences. Born and married in London, Allen came with his wife, Eleanor Warren, to Boston in 1754 or 1755, when he became on of the principle shop owners of the time. His fortunes took a turn for the worst when he remained a Loyalist during the Revolution. The account ends with him in London trying to raise the funds to have his children sent over.
