Description: The earlier Blob top bottles were used in a period from 1840-1890. These Hutchinson bottles soon became the norm, as they provided a better seal. Hutch bottles were very common in a period from 1879-1912. The bottle was made and then the top was placed on. The bottle top was placed on top before the bottom was totally cooled. Thus the seam does not go to the top of the bottle. This beautiful Hutchinson bottle is from the "South Side Bottling House., of Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania ". The name and address are in block letters embossed in a slug plate around the bottle. There were many breweries in the Pittsburgh area. The bottom edge reads, "D.O.C. 1010". The "1010" is a die number. The bottle was made by the D.O. Cunningham Glass Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. This bottle maker was in business from 1880-1938. They were a prolific maker of soda bottles, especially hutches. The south side of Pittsburg was the center of the glass bottle making in the U.S. The bottle is 6 1/4" tall. This bottle is in very good shape for its age. The bottle is fairly clear. With its primitive manufacturing methods, you can see the beautiful imperfections of internal fissures, bubbles and uneven bottom. There are no chips or no chips or cracks in this bottle. Shipping for this nice old bottle will be only $9.00 anywhere in the U.S. for 2-4 day mail. If you like, and purchase more of my many bottles, I will ship up to 4 more FREE with your new Taylor hutch bottle.
