Description: Offered here is an 1890s rut iron by David Anderson of St Andrews. Early clubs are scarce and this one comes from one of the premier families of St Andrews, the Andersons. David was the son Of "Old Da' " who was a contemporary of Tom Morris. Old Da was also a great clubmaker and in hus later years, he retired to push a drink cart to the links and serve ginger beer. And still today the 4th hole is known as the Ginger Beer Hole. This family of golfers were around in the featherie days and when Morris left to go to Prestwick in 1851, Old Da took over as the keeper of the green in St Andrews. A very prominent family of golfers. Clubs of theirs are not often seen. This is a very nice club that will look great in your collection or in your gutty play set. The gutty ball in the last photo is NOT INCLUDED in the sale. It is there so you can get a sense of the size of the head. A head this small is typically very early and many of the "rut irons" and "rut niblicks" offered are simply just smooth face niblicks and not early. The more you know... Shipping via UPS ground
