Description: 1880 Margate Presented by Spratt's Patent Sterling Dog Show Presentation Cup 1880 Margate Presented by Spratt's Patent Sterling Dog Show Presentation Cup Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the actual item you are buying. Very neat Museum quality 1880 presentation trophy/cup sponsored by Spratt. Founded by James Spratt, an American entrepreneur, Spratt was the first large-scale manufacture of dog biscuits. The company launched its first meat fibrine dog cake in London circa 1860. According to Wikipedia, "the company successfully promoted their array of products for dogs and other domestic animals through the astute use of snob appeal". This presentation cup was most likely an award for a dog show winner in Margate, a seaside town in Thanet, Kent, South East England. These old dog show presentation cups/trophies are very rare and a presentation trophy from 1898 by Pratt was displayed in a exhibition as part of a rare collection by The Kennel Club Art Gallery in May of 2019.
