The spine has raised bands and gilt spine title as well as a handsome eagle motif on the cover. Gilt page fore-edges as well. The title is A CHILD'S HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES by John Gilmary Shea. We are listing volume II separately because it's in much better condition than Vol. I and Vol I doesn't have the eagle on the cover. An 1872 edition (First?) of a history covering the 1850's to the end of the Civil War, with dozens of full-page engravings pertaining to the Civil War. The place of publication is New York: by McMenamy, Hess, & Co. Size is about 7 x 10 in., 218 pp. numbered 225 to 443. Wonderful illustrations.
