The map is from their "Combination Illinois and United States Atlas," published in Chicago, 1872. It is a steel plate engraved map with original vibrant handcoloring. The color is superb! Shown are Railroads, post offices, county seats, highways, townships. Scale is a quarter inch to the mile. Shown are Fayette, Effingham, Marion, Clay Counties and towns of Vandalia, Salem, Centralia, Louisville, Watson, Tentopolis, Ramsey and other places. Overall, a Beautiful Map in great condition with a quality antique appearance as desired! Size: The map image measures approximately 13 1/2 by 16 1/2 inches on a 16 by 18 1/2" page with a margin all around for framing as seen in the main pic. Condition: The map is in Good condition for its age with tonal aging, blank on reverse, with vibrant hand coloring, basically as seen in the pics. There are a few light spots and smudges, mainly around the margin and some light edge wear, otherwise the map image is fairly clean with no distracting defects, printed on strong pliable page and would frame up very nicely.
