Description: 1864 2 Cent Piece Large Motto 175 Degree Rotation Error - Nice Interesting Coin If you turn a U.S. coin over like turning a page of a book the other side’s image will be upside down, or if you flip the coin over top to bottom then the image should be centered right side up. Every now and then in the minting process at the mint, this alignment gets screwed up and it creates a rotation error, which is what has happened to this coin. 15 degrees to 30 degrees is more common. 45 degrees is very noticeable and less common. Nearly 180 degrees is a novelty. Pretty cool. Evidently these coins tended to have quite a few rotation errors so a 175 degree rotation error is rare but not extremely rare for this particular coin. This coin has some interesting toning on it as well.
