This is a rare and important original historical document as the supplement’s lead heading, Feue D’Enfe, the French equivalent of “hellfire” suggests. The Siege of Fort Pulaski concluded with the Battle of Fort Pulaski, April 10-11, 1862, here reported. Today the Fort Pulaski National Monument, located in Chatham Country, Georgia, commemorates those events and the National Part Service states of it, “The Union army used rifled cannon and compelled the Confederate garrison inside Fort Pulaski to surrender. The siege was a landmark experiment in the history of military science and invention.” That landmark is here documented by extensive reporting and a period map. Vintage condition, both sections folded, with discoloration and some tears and small losses, especially at the edges and folds, consistent with age and use. Nonetheless, overall still holding strong and very readable with two fine front-page maps suitable for framing. Estate sale find here offered for the first time; will be shipped folded as found. A rare and important piece of American history for your collection. Please reference photos for details, and ask questions before bidding.
