Description: This is an early English flattened ovoid stoneware whiskey jug from the mid 1800s...it has no embossing...thick heavy stoneware...ovoid shape with flattened sides....applied strap handle with ribs....double ring collar with cork stopper....yellow dipped shoulder....10"tall....Excellent shiny nice condition with only one small shallow chip on very bottom; a 2"scratch or faint surface hairline on side. No other damage. A nice clean jug with no stains...I've had several of these early English whiskey jugs with merchant names stamped on them from the 1830-1850s. This one has no embossing, but is very nice!.. .
